Show i FAIRVIEW j I Bv Special Correspondence Memorial Services Held For Staff Sergeant Glen Brady Memorial services for Staff Sergeant Ser-geant Glen Brady, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brady, who was killed in action over Germany, December Decem-ber 20, 1943, while on a Bomber night out of England, were held in the Fairview North ward chapel chap-el Wednesday at 2 p. m. with Bishop Golden D. Carlston conducting con-ducting the services. The Fairview American Legion Color Guard was in attendance The choir sang, "I Know That My Redeemer Lives," with Mrs. Ellis Coombs as soloist. The opening prayer was offered by Sidney Brady. The first speaker was Merlin Madsen, who paid tributes tri-butes to Mr. Brady's life and character. A duet, "I Am a Pilgrim," Pil-grim," was sung by Mrs. Elva Hamilton and Mrs. Mable Peterson Peter-son with Mrs. Ida Day as accompanist. ac-companist. The next speaker was Mr. Howard W. Rigby, who also paid high tribute to his memory. A vocal solo, "Sleep Soldier Boy, Sleep On," was sung by Floyd Young, accompanied by Le Nila Young on the piano. George F. Olsen spoke of the life and character char-acter and paid fine tributes to a Soldier who is killed in action, and closing remarks were given by Bishop Golden Carlston. The closing song, "Shall We Meet Be-yound Be-yound The River," was sung by the choir. The closing prayer was offered by Ezra Vance. Sergeant Brady is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brady, of Fairview; Private Dar-rell Dar-rell Brady of Camp Kohler, Calif.; Lieutenant Wayne Brady in England; Eng-land; four sisters, Vesta Phillips, Mrs. LaVee Fowles, and Doreen Brady of Salt Lake City, and Marelle Brady of Fairview, and one grandparent, Mr. Jordan H. Brady of Fairview. Flight Officer Clair Vance, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hillard Vance, is spending his furlough at home with his parents and friends. He was recently commissioned a Flight Officer at Mather Field, California. Mrs. Howard Rigby entertained at a delicious hot dinner Monday in honor of her husband's birthday birth-day anniversary. Twenty relatives rela-tives and friends were present and enjoyed a very good time. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Rigby and son, Therald Rigby, Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Jensen and family, Mrs. Glenda Staker and two children chil-dren motored to Provo Sunday to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Cles-ton Cles-ton Rigby and family and Keith Rigby and Miss Arlene Jensen. Private and Mrs. Darrell Brady of Camp Koiiler, California, Mrs. La Vee Fowles. Mrs. Phillipps and Miss Dareen Brady are visiting visit-ing in Fairview with relatives and friends. Mrs. Alva Zabriskie was hostess host-ess to the "Rook" club at her home last Thursday afternoon. Dainty refreshments were served to the guests. Mrs. Alice Young of Provo was a visitor in Fairview last Sunday. Mrs. Young was a former resident of Fairview and has many friends in Fairview. Annual Old Folks Party The -annual Old Folks party was held this Friday afternoon, Aug. 11th in the high school building. The following program was given at 4 o'clock: The invo ation was given by Bishop Heber Mower. A musical selection was given by Mr. Davis. A reading was given by Mrs. Elizabeth Eli-zabeth Ande.son. A vocal duet was given by Mrs. Ida Bills and Mrs. Ellen Peterson. An address .was given ly Bishop Golden D. Carlston. An accordian solo, by Mrs. Mary Larsen. A talk by Mr. C. V. Howell and a reading by Mr. Darius Sanders. A delicious dinner was served at 5 o'clock. Dinners were sent out to all the Old Folks who were unable to attend the celebration. The Bridge club met at the home of Mrs. Louise Stewart Wednesday evening. Delicious refreshments re-freshments were served to the guests. A social and party in honor of all the Visiting Relief Society Teachers of the Fairview North ward Relief society was held in the ward chapel Wednesday afternoon; af-ternoon; and a Bazaar was also held where many useful articles were on display. Refreshments were served to all present. Mrs. Lorna Tucker entertained at a hot dinner Thursday afternoon after-noon in honor of her birthday anniversary. an-niversary. About 20 relatives and friends enjoyed the entertainment. entertain-ment. Corporal Leo Stewart, who has been stationed at Orlando, Florida, Flori-da, is enjoying a 15-day furlough at home with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ora Stewart and other relatives and friends. Mrs. Opal Abbot, who has spent the past few years living in the state of Massachusetts and Chicago, Chi-cago, has arrived in Fiarview and intends to spend amonth visiting with relatives and friends before joining her husband, who is in the U. S. Navy and is stationed in California at the present tme. Mrs. Maurine Brady of Salt Lake City was a visitor in Fair-view Fair-view Cover the week end. Mrs. Hugo Mower of Magna is visiting with her son and daughter, daugh-ter, Mr. and Mrs. Ruel Mower and family at Fairview. Mrs. Ila Jensen entertained at a birthday party last week in honor of her little son, Garth Jensens Jen-sens birthday anniversary. The afternoon was spent in playing games. Refreshments were served to 18 children, who were present. Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Cox of Draper, Utah were visitors in Far-view Far-view last Sunday. Mrs. Lucy Tucker entertained at a birthday party Sunday, Aug. 6th in honor of her daughter, Cherrill's 10th birthday anniversary. anniver-sary. The children all came in costumes.
