Show MORONI j By Special Corespondence j Harley Bradley Is Reported A Prisoner of War in Germany Mr. and Mrs. Dorwal Curtis received re-ceived a telegram last Friday from the War Department which read as follows: "Your son, Harley Har-ley Bradley, is now a prisoner of the German Government. A letter let-ter will follow with details." This was indeed most welcome news, not only to his family and relatives, but also to his many friends, who have all felt very much concerned about him. He has ben reported missing in action ac-tion since May 29, 944. Miss Helen Olson, who joined the WACS organization some time ago, and is stationed in California, Cal-ifornia, has just undergone an operation on her eye, which was quite serious, but her many relatives rela-tives and friends will be happy to know that she is improving nice-lyat nice-lyat this time. Mrs. James Hardy is very happy hap-py to be at home again after having hav-ing spent the past several weeks at the St. Marks hospital in Salt Lake City. She is improving nicely at the present time. Mr. Brent Lewis of Draper, U-tah U-tah is spending a few days with his grandmother, Mrs. Kate Lewis at Moroni. Mrs. Esther Tidwell has been very ill this past week, but is feeling some better at this time. Mr. and Mrs. Chesley Madsen and family of Bountiful, Utah spent last week end with her father, John E. Jensen and family fami-ly at Moroni. Emerson Blackham, Mrs. Mella Morley and Mrs. Henrietta Nielsen Niel-sen received word Friday night that their brother, Jack Black-ham Black-ham of Le Grande, Oregon had just passed away. He has been seriously ill for the past 6 weeks with a heart ailment and they went to visit with him a short time ago. Harry Peterson is in Salt Lake City where he has employment. Paul Bailey of the U. S. Navy Coast Guard is enjoying a ten days furlough here this week. Ellis Christensen, Eliot Jensen and Calvin Sorenson left for the U. S. Service on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Monsen received a telegram last Monday from their son, Lynn, which read as follows: Newport, Virginia Aug. '5th "Arrived in U. S. A. Feeling fine. Furlough soon." He has been in the service for the past two years, and since going overseas, has completed 38 missions mis-sions as bomber gunner. According Accord-ing to his last letter received some time ago, and probably has more to his credit since then. His manv delatives and friends will be happy to welcome him home and learn of many of his experiences. Mr. and Mrs. Archie Christensen Christen-sen received a telegram on Tuesday Tues-day that their daughter, Mrs. Ellen Tomlinson of Bell, California Califor-nia had under gone an operation that day and friends will be glad to know that the report is that she is feeling fine. Mr. and Mrs. Hans Christensen have received word that their son, Mondell Christensen, a Sea Bee in the U. S. Service, is ill and is in the hospital at Pensacola, Florida. Mr. Ted Cloward returned home last week with an honorable discharge dis-charge from the U. S. Service due to poor health. He, with his wife and young son, are visiting this week with relatives in Sunnyside, Utah. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Anderson and daughter, Rachael of Richfield, Rich-field, Utah visited with relatives and friends here this week. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Burnside and family of Kenilworth, Utah are spending theyr vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Blackham, Jr. at Moroni. Mrs. Clair Acord and children of Nephi returned home last Sun-dav Sun-dav after spending a few days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mogart Larsen and family here. Mr. Charles Daniels and family of Eureka, Utah and Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Sparks of Ephraim visited last Sunday with their mother, Mrs. Marie Daniels. Mr. and Mrs. Kent Anderson and family of Magna, Utah visited vis-ited with relatives and friends here this week. Mr. and Mrs. George Welch of Mt. Pleasant are rejoicing over the arrival 6f a baby boy born Aug. 8th. The mother and baby are at the Dice Hospital in Moor- ni- , Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Christen sen and sons, Ellis ana Kay spem three days last week visiting with relatives in Garfield and Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Peterson are the proud parents of a baby boy, born at the Mt. Pleasant hospital on July 6th. Mr. and Mrs. Marius Sorenson and Mr. and Mrs. Art Home spent last Sunday with relatives in Richfield. Mr. and Mrs. Warren Christensen Christen-sen and son, and Mr. and Mrs. Archie Christensen enjoyed a party last Sunday in Maple canyon, can-yon, the occasion being the 66th birthday anniversary of Mrs. Christensen's father, Nathaniel Edmunds of Wales, Utah. A piano solo was given by Carol Christensen. A vocal solo was given by Pearl Christensen, who was accompanied accom-panied by Deneice Blackham. A piano solo was given by Betty Bet-ty Despain. Delicious refreshments were then served to the very large I number present. Many beautiful,! and useful gifts were presented to the young couple. Pres. Dermont Madsen announces an-nounces the Moroni Stake confer- ; ence to be held on Sunday August 20th in the Fountain Green ward chapel. He has not received word as yet who the speakers will be, who will represent the General Church Authorities. It will be announced an-nounced later. The concluding Sunday evening session, however, will be a radio playlet, entitled, "Come, Come Ye Saints," which will be under direction of the Stake Sunday Scnool. To make it more effective a microphone will be used. There will be 17 players and singers who will participate. par-ticipate. Every one is urged to be in attendance. Pres. and Mrs. Der Monte Mad-pn Mad-pn went to Salt Lake City last Monday for medical attention for Mrs. Madsen. Edsel Christensen and daughter, daugh-ter, Norma are spending a few days here with his mother, Mrs. J. W. Christensen. Mrs. Faye Peterson Seeley and baby of Salt Lake City are visiting visit-ing here' with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Peterson, since her husband left Tuesday for the U. S. Service. Mrs. Virgil Madsen received word this week that her sister. Mrs. George C. Anderson of Salt Lake City is critically ill, following follow-ing two strokes. Mr. Kay Larson of Spring City, who is in the U. S. Coast Guard, is home on a furlough visited Monday with Mr. and Mrs. Rus-sel Rus-sel Bailey. Mrs. Ida Dice entertained the members of the Sr. Sorosis club with a chicken dinner at Maple Canyon Thursday afternoon. Special Spe-cial guests were Mrs. Rodney L. Anderson, Mrs. Urvin Gee, and Mrs. Dan Philippi of Los Angeles, j California.- Miss Larona Irons accompanied Mrs. Philippi and daughter to Los Angeles, Calif, where she will spend the remainder of the summer. sum-mer. !
