Show Reed Pratt was highly honored by being nominated for the Homer C. "Pug" Warner Award for sportsmanship sports-manship and high quality of living among Melchizedek members. It is the highest award fh the church and includes leadership ability and high-type of living. Joe Kerr has decided to go to Dixie College to continue his path to learning. Gordon Kerr and Lyn Freestone are working as Little League Football Coaches, on the J C. Staff. Gordon has been doing the job for many years. The Rex Maughans have been entertaining Rex's sister and husband from California. The Ron Bangerters enjoyed en-joyed another visit to Bear Lake. And back to the Max Kerr family, their daughter JaNeal will make a very important new beginning when she is married to Stewart W. Walton on Sunday, September 21, at 5700 San Miguel Road, Bonita California. The couple will be honored at an open house at the West Bountiful 3rd Ward cultural hall on October 3. The Del Byintons were in on another important new beginning when they assisted with the baby sitting after the birth of a new grandchild born to their son Roger and wife of Layton. The new arrival was a son, who was born last Saturday. The Byron Rancks were down to West Bountiful last week, after Byron had a fall and hurt his ribs. This week celebrations have been carried on in honor of Belle's birthday. Next week Byron will be so honored. This is the week of the birthday birth-day of Marie Paget. This was the week of the opening socials of the AP Young Ladies organizations in the Wards. The West Bountiful 3rd ward went to Willard Bay for their fun and games. The West Bountiful 2nd Ward celebration was held in the bowery, Wednesday evening even-ing and featured a 1776 Olympics, including hoop rolling and all sorts of interesting events. Homemade ice cream was served. Remember the Stake Fathers' and Sons' Outing at Camp Zarahemla this evening and tomorrow morning. Bring your own supper and breakfast. The most exciting event of the morning will be a tug of war between the men and boys of the different wards. Also remember that those interested in securing peaches from the Regional Peach Farm must be at the Orchard at 8 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday. They will be sold for $5 a bushel, with own basket or at $6 if a basket needs to be purchased. Those children (eight years and older) who are interested in singing at the Stake Conference, to be held Sunday, Sun-day, Sept. 21, 1975, should attend at-tend the following practices: Sept. 8, 3:30 p.m. at the 2nd and 3rd Ward Chapel; Sept. 15 at 3:30 at the 2nd and 3rd Ward Chapel and Sept. 18, at 3:30 p.m. at the Stake House in the Chapel; and Sept. 20 at 10:00 a.m. at the Regional Center (Valley Music Hall). Girls are asked to wear dresses at all of the practices. Scott Dautel, son of the Dan Dautels, graduated from Primary and was made a Deacon. He has achieved the rank of Star Scout. Eugene Salmon, Ron Garner, and Anna Bradbury were awarded certificates of completion of the Teacher Development Program, by instructor Lloyd Hogan, Sunday Sun-day afternoon. Ruth Lee will serve as Social Relations Leader in the West Bountiful 2nd Ward Relief Society. Joan Chapman will work with the Primary, DeVan Pack with the Cub Scouts, and Donna Youngberg, with the Relief Society Sports Program. Kevin Roisch became a Priest. Frank and Shirleen Richardson, Chaplain at Fort Lewis, spoke in Sacrament Meeting recalling their earlier days in the community. com-munity. O'Dell Bodily played an organ solo. Bertha Page is at home after an eleven-day stay at the hospital. She and Leo welcome wel-come visitors. Ruby Olsen, who is 83 years young, has had an active and fun summer. During the Labor Day weekend, she and Halvor and other members of the family went down to Cedar Breaks to enjoy the scenery. They all went to Brian Head and did some hiking. Ruby joined right in with the others, even though she had to eat some extra chocolate to make it. |
