Show Golden Years Jolly Squares The 'Jolly Squares' of the Golden Years Center will begin fall activities on Thursday, Thurs-day, Sept. 4. THE BALLROOM is in the basement of the Bountiful Library at 727 North Main with entrance on the north side of the building, the regular Center entrance. Beginner people will start at 7 p.m. and the intermediate in-termediate group at 8 p.m. The caller of the square dancers is Carl Quist. There will be a small fee and there will be fun for all, so come out, join the dancers and meet your friends. FOR ANY further information informa-tion call the Center, 295-3479. On Monday, Sept. 8 at 3:30 p.m., Dora Flack will review 'Butch Cassidy, My Brother' which Mrs. Flack has written; writ-ten; everyone is invited. THE HEALTH Seminar will be an outstanding event for all senior citizens, Sept. 11 and 12, Thursday and Friday in the Center. Everyone should plan to attend one or all of these special informative informa-tive lectures or films. The films, 'Run Dick, Run Jane' and 'The Heimlich Maneuver' will start the Seminar at 12:30 p.m.; at 1 p.m., chronic lung disease; 'Breathing Easy' given by Tess Rasmussen; 2 p.m., food sanitation, 'What You Don't Know Might Be Upsetting' by - Richard L. Harvey. DIABETES AND hypoglycemia 'Your Sweet Tooth May be Turning You Sour' by Dr. Richard Cannon; arthritis at 4 p.m., 'You And Your Aching Joints' given by Dr. Lee Smith and films at 5 p.m. The Friday program, 12:30 p.m., films; 1 p.m., hypertension, hyper-tension, heart disease and stroke, 'Tired Pumps ana Clogged Pipes' given by Dr. Dennis Peterson; 2 p.m. is mental health, 'Your Mind-boggleing Mind-boggleing Mind' by Dr. Russell Rus-sell A. Williams. AT 3 P.M. medical quackery and fraud, 'Trouble Right Here in River City' by Richard E. Johns, Jr.; cancer, 'Frightening but Far From Hopeless' by Dr. Richard Brown and at 5 p.m. films to close the seminar. There will be a follow up Health Clinic in early November watch for details. A BRIDGE, pinochle, canasta, and rock festival will be held in the Center on Sept. 22 beginning at 12 noon. Come join your friends and play any of these fun games, come alone, with a partner or your club. There will be a light lunch served and many prizes. Reservations must be made at the Center by Sept. 19. ALL THOSE who are now attending or wish to attend the physical fitness programs should contact the Center. The personnel at Bountiful Pool will arrange more time and days for senior citizens if they will all come at the same time. A schedule needs to be set up right away. Adult volunteers are needed . right away for tutoring in the Davis County Schools. Senior citizens should volunteer for this work so contact the Center and offer your assistance. |
