Ron Hyman, instructor in photography at the Bountiful Art Center, and his students are enthusiastic about the programs being offered for fall quarter at the center. ADDITIONAL equipment has been purchased and ad-ditional ad-ditional space will be available availa-ble because painting and drawing classes offered through the center which were using the same area as the photography classes will use the more spacious facility at the Davis-University of Utah building on 5th South. Introduction to Photography, Pho-tography, with emphasis on basic to intermediate photography, pho-tography, is designed to give a working knowledge of cameras and their operation, basic black and white films including development and printing techniques, and color films, their differences and uses. Instruction will be geared to individual needs and equipment. ALSO OFFERED is Photography: Pho-tography: Darkroom Workshop for persons who are acquainted with basic procedures in using a camera, developing and printing. The emphasis in the darkroom workshop will be on more advanced black and white developing techniques and printing creativity. Lectures Lec-tures will be given on the "Zone System" and other more advanced techniques. During the conversion of the old Second Ward meetinghouse meet-inghouse at 197 East 500 South to the Davis-University of Utah Program for Higher Education, the steeple was removed. The brass tip of the steeple, which resembles a piece of modern sculpture, was rescued from oblivion and a' contest to "Name the New Sculpture" was sponsored spon-sored by the Bountiful Art Center and the Davis-University of Utah Program. THE PRIZE offered to the winner was a gift certificate good for 20 ice cream cones at the Bountiful Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream Store, courtesy of Dwight Eubank, owner of the Bountiful Store. Anton Rasmussen, director of Bountiful Art Center, announces an-nounces that the winner of the contest is Margaret Camp. THE WINNING title for the sculpture is "Artist's World." The sculpture, along with its new title, will become the first piece of the Bountiful Art Center's sculpture collection and will permanently reside in a place of honor in the office of-fice of Dr. William R. Stringham, director, Davis-University Davis-University of Utah Program for Higher Education. The Bountiful Art League has arranged for a mem-' mem-' bership tea to be held Saturday, Satur-day, Oct. 18, from 3-5 p.m., at the home of Kenneth Newman, New-man, who has one of the finest private collections of art in the state. SHERYL ALLEN, membership mem-bership chairman of the Bountiful Art League, extends an invitation to all lovers of art to attend and consider membership in the League. Purpose of the Bountiful Art League is to stimulate interest in all forms of the visual arts among its members and the community. com-munity. It functions as a service ser-vice and fund raising body for the Art Center. THE GALLERY at the Bountiful Art Center will continue through September to display paintings by local artists who are students and faculty of the Center and members of the Bountiful Art Guild. All paintings are for sale or rent. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., closed Sundays and Mondays until further notice. Class schedules for both the Bountiful Art Center and the Davis-University of Utah program will be mailed out the second week in September, Sep-tember, and will also be available at both sites. Persons Per-sons desiring to receive a schedule should contact the center at 581-8820 and schedules will be sent on request. |
