Show Enlistments Are Open Tor Partially Disabled Veterans The War Department announced an-nounced today that enlistments in the Regular Army are now open to partially disabled combat-wounded veterans of World War II. The new regulation authorises immediate enlistment of such veterans who possess, or arc trainable in, certain critically criti-cally needed skills and who-meet who-meet certain physical requirements. require-ments. Applicants enlisting under the regulation are required to be fit for general military service with the exception of their specific spe-cific combat-incurred disability. They must be capable of caring for their own personal needs Independently, In-dependently, and their physical condition, with full consideration considera-tion of disabilities, must not require further hospitalization or loss of duty time. Enlistees must be physically capable of performing useful service in the occupational specialty spe-cialty 1hey choose when enlisting, enlist-ing, of which there are more than 100. Disabled vets who join the Regular Army under the regulation regula-tion will lie given the grades held when discharged regardless regard-less of choice of military job titles, provided enlistments are accomplished on or before January Jan-uary 31, If) 17. However, those who enlist after that date, but within 20 days of discharge, will also have their former grades restored. All enlistments will be for three-year periods. Combat -disabled veterans who are affected af-fected by the new regulation should contact ttieir nearest U. S. Army recruiting station for more detailed information regarding re-garding Regular Army jobs which are available. |
