Show Number 45 Dairy Cattle To Be Shown At Ogden I Most -of the outstanding dairy cattle in the United States wiU be shown in the Ogden Livestock colisem on Novemoer 3 and 4 giving people of Utah" and surrounding sur-rounding states a rare opportunity oppor-tunity to see this stock, it is announced an-nounced by Professor George B. Came, head of the department of dairy husbandry at Utah State Agricultural College. According to Professor Caine this is the only time in the history of the national dairy show an exhibit of leading dairy cattle of the country will be shown in the .ntermountain states. The offical national dairy show is at San Francisco October 21 to 29, in-I in-I elusive. All of the offical judging I will be done during the week at San Francisco but following the coast show the cattle will be shipped directly from San Francisco Fran-cisco to Ogden on their return to the east. At this Ogden showing the cattle will not be judged but will be led into the arena where the breeders and the many interested dairy people of this section will have the opportunity to see them, Professor Caine said. The cattle will be housed in the coliseum ior at least two days where they may be viewed also at any time durmg the day or evening. According to Professor Caine the cattle started for the western trip last September. The final midwestern show was at Waterloo, Water-loo, Iowa, which is rated as one of the leading shows in m United States. While at this show a special train of more than 30 cars was chartered to take the dairy cattle into the northwest. The herds rested a few days at Billings, Montana, where they were visited by more than 5,000 people interested in dairy cattle. From Billirrgs, the cattle were moved to Portland, Oregon, to be exhibited in the Pacific International Inter-national Livestock Exposition along with the leading breeds from the northwest. Alter the completion of the Pacific International Exposition the cattle were taken to treasure Island at San Francisco where, with cattle from Utah, Nevada, and California were added to the list to be exhibited making a grand total of 1250 animal. This is the largest number of dairy cattle to be exhibited at any show, Professor Caine stated. |
