Show I : 1 MORONI Rv Special Correspondence Reuben King Ames, 76, former resident of Moroni for many years, died at his home in Salt Lake City, 37 West Seventh South street. Monday at 7:30 a. m., of hardening of the arteries. Mr. Ames was born in Ephraim, a son of Reuben and Mary King Ames, but had moved with his parents to Moroni when he was :i years eld. He came to Salt Lake four months ago. Surviving are his widow, Mrs' Helena Hel-ena Peterson Ames; four sons, D. F. Ames of Salt Lake; Ralph Ames, Moroni; James W. Ames, Chinock, Montana, and Roscoe Bradley Ames of Salt Lake; six daughters, Mrs. Vida Ernsten, Mrs. Lcora Burnham, Mrs. Florence Tcrkelsen, Mrs. Myrtle Terkelsen and Miss Clorence Ames, all of Sa!t Lake, and Mrs. Glenn Mower of Fairview; also 30 grandchildren Gene Christensen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Christensen, broke his leg when he fell from a horse last week. Dr. Rigby was called. Mrs. Abe Little was a Salt Lake visitor last week. Mr. and Mrs. Orlando Draper announce the hirth if ar,u. at their home. Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Bradley of Salt Lake City visited in Moroni last week. Mrs. Linda Christensen has gone to Shelley, Idaho for an extended visit. Mrs. Ellis Draper received word last week that her husband was in a hospital in Montana and had been operated on for accute appendicitis. ap-pendicitis. Mr. and Mrs. Willis Tidwell of Richfield announce the birth of a baby girl. Mrs. Tidwell was formerly for-merly Miss Loetta Anderson cf this city. Kr- Andrew Bradley Jr., Ms-Leo Ms-Leo Morley, Mrs. Hannah n. Blackham. Mrs Ezra Nielsen, Mis Morgan Lamb, Mrs. Rodney Anderson An-derson and Mrs. Jack Olsen attended at-tended the June conference in Salt Lake City this week. Mr. and Mrs. Chrismon Christensen Chris-tensen of Denver, Colorado are visiting relatives in Moroni. In a special election Tuesday a bond issue of $15,000 was voted b. a close majority, 30 votes to 2-3. This election was called to complete com-plete all necessary details so the city can make negotiations with the R. F. C. on a self-liquidating lean to replace the old water mains with modern iron pipe. It is expected ex-pected that work on this project will begin at once. The first meeting of the first year 4-H cooking club was held in the high school Saturday. The following fol-lowing orficers were elected: President, Presi-dent, Lois Monsen; vice president, Wanda Anderson; secretary and treasurer, Donette Eliason; song and cheer leader, Katheleen Syme; reporter. Geraldine Anderson; program pro-gram committee, Dona Sorensen, Ruth Draper and Wanita Jensen. A club name will be selected at the next meeting. They will meet eve:"' week. Miss Maurine Thompson of Albert" Al-bert" is visiting relatives in Moroni. Verno Larson, Harry J. Peterson Peter-son and Pete Sorensen have been chosen as the general committee for the 4th of July celebration at Moroni with Mrs. Ray Anderson, chairman of the decoration committee; com-mittee; Mrs. Marvin Anderson, chairman of the program and C. W. Jensen, chairman of the sports. Other committee members will be announced later. A truck load of local girls left last week for Provp where they will pick berries. Mr. and Mrs. Cleon Anderson returned home Wednesday night from a trip to the World's Fair ai Chicago. |
