It is unlawful to operate a maternity mat-ernity home in the State of Utah without having obtained a perron m writing from the State Board 'r wealth, according to a statement state-ment released by the 3oard, in the announcement of new rules and regulations recently adopted for the establishment and maintenance main-tenance of maternity homes and hospitals. The State law defines a mat-f.-.-mty hospital as "any institution or place for the recopt.'on, care and treatment of women in labor, or where females may be received cared for and treated during preg-nncyand preg-nncyand after delivery". The provisions of the Act, Dr. Lela J. Beebe, director of the Division Div-ision of Materr.ai and Child Health, pointed out, do not apply to maternity service in general hospitals. The rules and regulatons adopted adopt-ed by the State Board of Health were made in the interest of more adequate administraton of the law which has been on the statute books for many years.
