Show Battlefields of War-Battlefields of Peace It is brave, patriotic and heroic to fight on the battlefields battle-fields of the world. All honor to the men and boys. God bless them every one. But let us tell you that it takes a lot of courage cour-age and manliness to fight for truth on lonely battlefields, unapreciated and unrewarded. No wonder one poet evclaimed, "Who fights for truth must puead to hearts of stone." Looking Look-ing backward in these last days of the old year, we recall that for over forty years we have been standing in a small and lonely outpost on the battlefield of truth, sending forth what to us seemed for the best good of humanity. We bow in reverent re-verent thankfulness to those who have aided and supported us, but the great army of people has simply passed by on the other side. Were we to mention the names of prominent persons, per-sons, here in Utah, and across the country froc Los Angeles to Washington, to whom we have given our truth all these years without money rewards, our readers would indeed be surprised. We have given away our very self until the evening even-ing of life finds us in a very unenviable economic condition. Why should the men who are blessed with money be so miserly in withholding it? We tell them now, and it is the truth, that shortly very shortly, their money will be worthless worth-less absolutely worthless. A hard saying, but a true one. It will all vanish in the catclysm now on the nation's doorstep. door-step. Better give a little of it while you have it, and let it help build monuments in human hearst. All honor to him that wins the prize, But what of him who tries and tries, Only to find that his dream world dies. |
