Wo have gat iered the following thoughts from things said at the tercentenary of Harvard University and it is quite a rtflection on some phases of our educational system. It. is true that we have made the most wonderful progress pro-gress in the homely virtues, and peace and happiness in the home and iu the -state we have not advanced beyond the Middle Ages. Three hundred years of science and education and to what end? To the end that the true val-1 val-1 es of personality and character have been almost buried. Our educational system has become the most elaborate plan ever devised for obscuring and hiding the homely facts and virtues of life; to the end that our complex systS' em of ideals threatens to kill the very civilization wifich it has produced- |
