C, Sept 0 Declaring prices of farm implements to havi been increased without war-rantthrough war-rantthrough concerted notion of tho manufacturers and dealers, the fed cral trade commission in a report to night recommends reopening of nnti trust proceedings against tho Inter national Harvester company nnd the institution of judicial proceedings against implement manufacturers and dealers The commission now dec'nrcs that its investigation, which was ord ered by the senate, disclosed that in the ionod between 1014 and 1018 prices paid by fanners for implements advanced 73 per cent with the greater great-er portion of the increase coming in 1111. and 1018. This increase, the commission ns-strts, ns-strts, was larger than warranted by the advices in tho costs nnd expenses of the manufacturers and dealers nnd resulted in unusually largo profits. Notwithstanding the increase, fanners, fann-ers, according to the coiifmiwioii'a rejiort re-jiort "wore not prevented from making mak-ing as much profit ns before, because the prices of fnnn products increased to an cvtn greater extent " The rcMirt adds, however, that if present implement pnees arc maintained main-tained while pnees of fnnn products decrease, high implement costs "may well become a factor in preventing the fanner from making n fair profit." |
