Show l f ' ' ( -1, 1 , .; ?::q U 4 f rt - - p - -V, : , t t , '' 1 i AWARD WINNERS Presented awards at recent Manila Farm Bureau meeting for outstanding 4-H club work were Charles Warnick, Julia Ann Wamick, Nancy Lou Warnick, Kathleen Allen. 1954 4-H Theme Stressed By Clubs During 4-H Week, March 6 to 14 This week, March 6 to 14, all 4-H Club boys and girls will be interested in the theme for 1954, "Working Together for World Understanding," as part of National Na-tional 4-H Club Week, March 6 to 14. As the 4-H program is so vital a part of farm life and home, the Manila Farm Bureau, at their meeting at the Alpine Grille on March 5, encouraged young people in 4-H work, by honoring outstanding out-standing 4-Hers for outstanding achievements in their fields. Awards to the girls were made by Mrs. Harriet Mulliner, home demonstration agent of Utah County to Kathleen Allen, national nation-al 4-H winner in Food Preparation, who received a certificate designating desig-nating the $300 scholarship won at the National 4-H Congress at Chicago. Miss Allen is a 6th year club member, and has carried 16 projects, including skills in food preparation and serving attractive attrac-tive meals. Nancy Lou Warnick was awarded award-ed two bronze statuettes as state winner of the girls achievement contest. Nancy Lou has 8 years of 4-H club work and 15 projects. The achievement award is for outstanding out-standing records in various types of club work, and are based on actual club records. She has won several state and national honors. Julia Ann Warnick was awarded award-ed a gold wrist watch for having won the state entomology contest. This is the first time this award has been won in Utah. The entomology entom-ology contest aims to encourage boys and girls to study insect life as relating to health and happiness, happi-ness, to distinguish between friend and foe in insects and to know the correct use of insecticides. Ju-liann Ju-liann is a 6th year club members and has carried ten projects.. The 4-H alumni award was presented pre-sented to Charles Warnick, a copper cop-per plaque. This was the first time this plaque has been awarded. Mr. Wamick was one of four winners in Utah. To qualify one must be a former 4-H club member, must have achieved success as a club leader, or be outstanding in his profession or community. Mr. Warnick was a 4-H club member for nine years. After hiR college work, he became a county agent. After service in World War II. he became a registered Dairy Farmer and has been a club leader for the past two years. The presentation pre-sentation to Mr. Warnick was made by J. Area Adams. The outstanding display in the Utah Power & Light Co. window should be of interest to all boys and girls of the community.
