Show Rodeo Queen to Be Selected on Memorial Day Slated for Memorial Day, May 30, next Thursday, is the Rodeo Queen contest for Strawberry Days. The contest is being run off under the auspices of the Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove Riding Club. All young ladies 16 or over, who have not previously been queen of Strawberry Days Rodeo, are eligible according to Ken Gillman and Howard Green and they are asked to sign up for entry with either with Mr. Gillman or Mr. Green prior to the event, or contestants can sign up until 7 p.m. the night of the contest at the rodeo grounds. Horsemanship and pei-sonality will determine the winner and the wearing apparel and regalia worn will not be judged. Contestants must furnish their own horses. A queen and two attendants will be chosen and they must be prepared pre-pared to travel in advertising the Strawberry Days. Cash prizes will also be given to winners. The program the night of the contest will be a teen-age rodeo, boys from 8 to 13. To enter see Gordon Taylor or Bill Robinson and furnish a waiver from parents. Also a Jackpot Calf Roping contest con-test will be held. |
