Show Labor Unions to Present Three $100 Scholarships Three college scholarship a-wards a-wards of $100 each to high school seniors in Utah were announoed today by the Educational Committee Com-mittee of the Utah State AFL-CIO. AFL-CIO. The committee stated that the awards are being made available to senior students of all accredited accred-ited high schools public, private and parochial. One scholarship will be awarded to each of the State's universities; Utah State University, University of Utah and Brigham Young University. Examinations -will be conducted conduc-ted on Friday, May 1, in each high school where applicants have filed, and winners will be announced along with presentation presenta-tion of the awards at the State AFL-CIO convention scheduled for late summer. A check for $100 will be deposited in the three winning students' names at the three State universities. The awards may be used to assist the student in any field of knowledge, know-ledge, and will not be limited to those interested in labor alone. Principals of high schools in Utah will be furnished with full details and applications for the scholarship contest. The scholarship awards are being be-ing made available by the Utah State AFL-CIO in an effort to assist outstanding students in obtaining ob-taining a higher education and to promote a better understanding understand-ing of thte American Labor movement. |
