Show Letter to Editor 1o the Editor: Utah County property owners have a tax problem in '55 that is rather distinctive. Since there is a State levy, at this time we think we have cause for complaint. True it is. all the other counties coun-ties in the State share with us in meeting this 4.60 mill quota; but here the similarity ceases. The Utah State Tax Commission Commis-sion have seen fit to give Utah County first honors in their launching of a new program that is definitely up. We are told that we will have company next year, and will share co-honors with Salt Lake County after it is surveyed and revalued. Later on, others will join our ranks; and after six or seven years we will all be in the same boat, so we are told. While we will ever be in the front rank for equalization, at the same time I feel that it is both unconstitutional and unfair to shoulder one political subdivision with a tax that is in addition to other counties. Our progenitors fought and freed America because we were being discriminated against. Most Americans still cany that rebellious rebel-lious spirit against unfairness, do we not? For that very reason I am paying my taxes this year under protest, and would suggest that every taxpayer in Utah County who is. unhappy about this whole affair, do likewise. I personally know of widows, also al-so of aged and impoverished families fam-ilies living in abodes ranging from basements to antiquated buildings up to 75 years of age, who are now faced with problems that are both shameful and embarassing to say the least.
