Show M Men League Starts Season The M Men basketball season got off to a fast start last Thursday Thurs-day with three very good games. The teams all displayed mid-season form and appeared to be quite evenly matched, indicating a strongly contested and very interesting inter-esting season. In the first game, last year's champions, Grove ward, took up abut where they left off, by beating beat-ing First ward 45-33, and looked very sharp doing it. First ward had first night jitters with their shooting, but will be hard to beat when they start hitting. The second game saw Second ward beat Manila 38-33, despite a 16 point performance by Manila's Warren Harris, high for the night. With just a little more polish and scoring, these two teams will make it tough for the i others. The final game provided the tightest competition, but Fourth Ward, led by some accurate shooting shoot-ing by Lynn Paulson, who also tallied 16 points for the evening, downed a stubborn Third ward team 46-42. Third scored two more field goals, but were unable to match the 16 points from the free throw line collected by the Fourth Ward. Games will be played every Wednesday and some Thursday evenings at 7, 8, and 9 p.m., and we urge all ward members to come out and support their team. Season Sea-son tickets costing $2.50 can be purchased from any of the players. play-ers. A very interesting second round was played Wednesday night, and the results further indicate a close fight for the championship. Although Al-though the scores were not too close, there was a lot of good basketball played. The first game saw Lindon in action for the first time, and they came up with a very decisive win over Manila. Led by Harold Jack-lin. Jack-lin. who scored 18 points to gain high honors for the night, Lindon displayed a great deal of spirit and scoring ability to win 60-26, and make themselves one of the favorites favor-ites to win the league. Fourth ward also looked good in beating First Ward 50-29 to remain re-main undefeated and set the stage for one of the showdown games of the first half with Grove next Wednesday. Holman led the attack with 16 points, which also put him in the lead for individual scoring honors in the league for two games. Third beat Second in the last game, 39-23, giving these two trams one win and one loss.
