Show Centra! School Decorates Free Christmas Tree The Christmas Spirit is running high at Central School this week. Two large beautiful Christmas trees have arrived, in time for the children to make decorations and catch the real Christmas feeling. The boys and girls at Central School would like to express their appreciation to Mr. Fowles. It should be of interest to the people of Pleasant Grove to know that -since Jesse Fowles, now Mrs. Edwin Mart, was a tiny girl just entering school her father has furnished a Christmas tree for her room and for the rooms of his other children as they have gone on through school. When Mr. Fowles and his family fam-ily moved to Pleasant Grove in 1920, they continued this custom and in 1936 when the Christmas tree was brought into the school room, Mr. Fowles was asked if he had a larger tree that we could decorate and put into the large hall for all the children to enjoy. He very willingly cooperated and brught the largest tree he had at his place at the time. Since that time he has tried to find the nicest tree possible early in the summer and then preserved it until he could get it out in the fall so that it could be used by the School. This week Mr. Fowles made his 17th yearly trip. Mr. Fowles brings the tree, puts a stand on it and gets it ready for the decorations. The students at Central School would like to extend an invitation to all the people of the community, commun-ity, especially their parents, to come and enjoy the Christmas spirit together. |
