Show I FIRST AID to the I AILING HOUSE I pVQ BY ROGER C. WHITMAN QUESTION: How would you remove re-move a spot on an office floor about 2x4 feet, caused by dragging drag-ging feet when spinning in chair from desk to typewriter, without sanding the whole floor? The floor has had a coat of stain and two coats of shellac. ANSWER: Take off the remains of the shellac by quick wiping with denatured alcohol. Then apply ap-ply one or two coats of fresh shellac, shel-lac, thinning them down with denatured de-natured alcohol, about one-half. Feather out the strokes. Do not expect perfect results. If you intend in-tend to do over the whole floor at some time, you might consider a penetrating floor wax or penetrating pene-trating floor seal. These finishes are not apt to show scratches. |
