Show Changes Made At Quarterly Conference All sessions of the Timpanogos stake quarterly conference were well attended with the buildings filled to overflowing at the three Sunday sessions. Welfare meetings and priesthood leadership meetings were held Saturday Sat-urday evening at 6:30 and 8 o'clock, o'-clock, respectively. At the ten o'clock session, President Pres-ident Merrill N. Warnick conducted conduct-ed and was the first speaker. The meeting opened by the congregation congregat-ion singing "Did You Think to Pray" and invocation was offered by Bishop H.S. Walker. President Warnick expressed thanks for the loyal support of officers and church leaders and bore testimony to the greatness of the gospel plan. . Other speakers were LaVieve Monson, recently returned from the missionary field; Louise Neilson, stake president of Primary, El-wood El-wood Allen, stake superintendent of YMMIA; and Alroy Gillman, recently released bishop of Lin-don Lin-don ward, who spoke words of appreciation for opportunities to serve and offered loyal support to his followers. Elder Clifford E. Young, assistant assist-ant to the Twelve, chose to speak on love and tolerance among the people and quoted many beautiful scripture passages to substantiate his thoughts, and left this thought "No one who Injures another can realize the seriousness thereof until un-til he attempts to make com- . pensation." Elder Stephen L. Richards chose to speak on the genius of the Gospel Gos-pel of Christ, discussing the difference diff-erence between salvation and exultation ex-ultation and admonished the Saints to seek eternal life in the Kingdom King-dom of God. Special music was furnished by the Stake relief chorus directed by Mrs. Warren P. Kirk and accompanied acc-ompanied by Mrs. Mary Neves. They sang "In Thy Form," words by Carlton Culmsee and music by Florence J. Madson; "The Lord is My Shepherd" and "O Father Keep We Pray" words by Mrs. Madson. Organ music for the congregational congregation-al singing was played by Miss Louise Brimhall. Benediction was pronuonced by Bishop Ertman Christenson. At the Second General session, held last Sunday in the First ward chapel, changes were made in the stake officers as follows, Lawrence M. Atwood was released from the high council and ordained as Patriarch. Pat-riarch. Joseph Ash was chosen to fill the vacancy in the high council. coun-cil. The new slake superintendency of YMMIA is Elvin Carson, with Welby Gammon and Boyd Fugal assistants. Released were Elwood Allen superintendent and Welby Gammon first and Lewis Wells, Glade Hilton was retained as sec- retary. In the reorganization of the primary pri-mary Mrs. Venola Nelson was sustained sus-tained as president with Vivian Evans first and Veloy Warnick second counselors and Merium Ash secretary. Released were Louise C. Nelson president, and counselors, Merium Ash and Marian West and secretary Leone Jense. William Freeman was ordained as one of the seven presidents of 70. Speakers at this session included President Vilace Radmall, Carol Wells, president of slake relicT society, Lewis Olpin of the slake presidency, Elders Clifford E. Young and Stephen L. Richards, representing the general authorities. author-ities. Special music was furnished by the Second wind girls chorus, directed by Mrs. Virginia Young. The closing session of the conference con-ference was the very impressive and inspirational Easter Oratorio, "The Crucifixion" directed by A. R. Overlade, which was held in the Second ward chapel at 7:30. |
