Statistics Given On Utah Liquor Consumption Information has been given out that the people of Utah consumed next to the highest amount of liquor per capita in the United States. Data from the Distilled Spirits Institute Inc., Washington, D. C, and compiled by the auditor of Utah Liquor Control commission show the above statement to be in error, and gives the following facts. For the year 1946, Utah was 4th from the bottom in per capita gallon of liquor consumed. There are 29 states where liquor is sold by the drink and 17 where it is sold by the package. The comparison comparis-on between these two groups is that the states selling by the drink consumed 57.7 per cent more per capita than the states selling by package.
