Show 'ATTENDED UN 5M? . STAKE LAS? WEEK I Four well attended sessions of j conference were conducted Satur- day evening and Sunday. The Saturday evening session was a welfare meeting with Elder J. Leonard Love of the church welfare representing the general authorities. The first general session convened con-vened Sunday morning at 10 a.m. with President Merrill N. Warnick in charge. Presiding over the conference con-ference was Joseph F. Merrill of the council of 12, who with Elder Love represented the authorities of the church. The opening number, "Our Father in Heaven Thy Praise We Sing," was sung by the Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove Second ward Relief Society Soc-iety chorus directed by Mrs. Wesley Wes-ley Jense and accompanied by Mrs. Gerald Belliston and Mrs. J. Howard How-ard Nelson. Invocation was offered by El-wood El-wood Allen, stake supenntendent of Y.M.M. I. A. The chorus then rendered a second number, "Holiness "Holi-ness Becometh the House of the Lord." Business of presenting and sustaining sus-taining of church officers was conducted con-ducted by President Vilace Rad-mall. Rad-mall. First speaker was President Lewis Olpin who chose to speak on Thrift and Evils of Debt. He was followed by Elder Theodore Theo-dore Rees, head of the Timpanog-os Timpanog-os stake mission. Short inspirational inspirat-ional talks were given by Miss Helen Hel-en Olson of Manila ward and Norman Nor-man Wright of the Second ward, both recently returned missionaries. missionar-ies. Elder J. Leonard Love talked on church welfare as aid for the needy. Time was then turned over to Elder Merrill, who followed up the former speakers ideas on thrift and elaborated thereon. The closing song of the session was "Glory to God on High". Benediction was pronounced by Lewis Wells. At the 7:30 o'clock session. President Pres-ident Lewis Olpin conducted. The LDS girls of the stake sang two numbers, "The Lord is My Shep-ard," Shep-ard," and "O Devine Redeemer." They were directed by stake chorister chor-ister Warren Kirk. Invocation was offered by Earl O. Beck, stake Sunday school superintendent. sup-erintendent. President Merrill N. Warnick, 1st speaker explained the welfare project and the necessity and result of missionary work. Short faith inspiring talks were made by Louise C. Neilson, stake primary president and two recently released missionaries, Lyman Robertson Rob-ertson and Kenneth Wright and by Ray Merrill, formerly of the stake presidency. Concluding speakers were Elder Love and Apostle Love who admonished ad-monished all to seek the gospel light and live according to its teachings. The congregation, directed by Warren Kirk sang "How Firm a Foundation" and Elder .Austin Movie pronounced the benediction. The 2 p.m. meeting conducted by President Radmall was a priesthood priest-hood leadership session in which problems pertaining to the priesthood priest-hood were discussed. |
