Show War Fund Drive Opens Here October 1st lty proclamation of Governor Herbert li. Maw, October has been designated "United War fund of Li fah Month." On October Oc-tober 1, next Monday, the final campaign of the fund will open, to continue until October 31. As previously announced,' the Utah organization will appeal again for $4(l!.()l)0 as its quota of (lie National War Fund which, through all .state organizations, seeks '$115,000,000 to carry on the work of the foreign relief agencies, the USO, United Seamen's Sea-men's Relief and other groups affiliated af-filiated with is. Dated September 21, the governor's gov-ernor's proclamation is as follows: fol-lows: "WHEREAS, the devastating global conflict has, by the grace of God, resulted in victory fori the cause of freedom, tolerance and amity among nations, and "WHEREAS, despite the cessation cessa-tion of hostilities and organized campaigns against erstwhile foes, our nation faces a gigantic task of occupation and establishment of orderly government and. economic eco-nomic life in vast areas of Europe and Asia, with the consequent con-sequent continued use of millions of men and women of the armed forces and the merchant marine for an indefinite period, and WHEREAS, the people of war-devastated war-devastated regions .still are in dire straits, needing the bare necessities of life food, fuel, clothing and medicine with many thousands still to be repatriated repa-triated and reestablished as self-supporting self-supporting citizens of their countries, and "WHEREAS, to meet these urgent ur-gent needs of civilian war-sufferers and to provide continued recreation, rest and morale-sustaining services, the great foreign for-eign relief agencies, the USO, the United Seamen's Service and other groups affiliated with the National War Fund are carrying on steadfastly at home and abroad, and "WHEREAS, the United War Fund Committee of Utah will campaign during the month of October to raise Utah's quota of the 1945 goal to the National Wat Fund and will thereby help speed the day when peace and order shall prevail throughout the world, "NOW, THEREFORE, I Herbert Her-bert B. Maw, Governor of the State of Utah and Honorary State Chairman of the United War Fund of Utah, do proclaim the month of October to be United Unit-ed War Fund of Utah Month and do recommend that the generous citizens of our state once again wholeheartedly cooperate with this great humanitarian enterprise enter-prise and give generously of their substance in its support, with this impulse uppermost in mind and heart: Let Us be Generous in Victory.
