H.V ' 1 lAJ f Why Are You Without Bus and , Truck Service? i SINCE NOVEMBER 19, YOUR COMMUNITY HAS BEEN WITHOUT BUS AND TRUCK SERVICE, BECAUSE OF-REFUSAL OF DRIVERS TO WORK QUESTION: Is there a dispute between Rio Grande Motor Way and its bus and truck drivers? ANSWER: No. There is a dispute between the Company and the dock men (workers who load and unload freight) in the. city of ; ' , Denver, concerning rates of pay and demands for a Union ' shop. T ' QUESTION: Is Rio Grande Motor Way the only company affected by the .. i Denver dock men's strike? v ANSWER: No. More than 35 carriers have been forced to discontinue . . . ' ; ' service because of a general strike of Denver dock men. QUESTION: Why, then, do the bus and truck drivers refuse to work? , ANSWER: The Teamsters Union has insisted that the bus and truck drivers cease work in support of the Denver dock men, in spite of the fact that there is no dispute between the Company and bus and truck drivers. QUESTION: Is the strike of bus and truck drivers legal? ANSWER: No, it is in violation of a contract provision that "there shall be no strike or lock-out or tie-up without first using all possible possi-ble means of peaceful settlement of any controversy which might arise." By orders of the Union, and without previous notice to the Company, drivers refused to pull their schedules after November 19. QUESTION: What is being done toward restoration of bus and truck service? ANSWER: Bus and truck service cannot be restored because the drivers refuse to work, pending a settlement of the Denver dock men's strike on Union terms. QUESTION: May Rio Grande Motor Way equipment be used by others to render bus and truck service?
