Show State Regulations On Raising Rents & Evictions Landlords, before raising rentals, rent-als, should give written notice to tenants 15 days prior to the effective ef-fective date of the increase, Glen D. Reese, Utah OPA state rent executive said today. "Now that price and rent controls con-trols have expired, landlord-tenant relationships are governed by local law," Mr. Reese said. "As to evictions, the law is quite clear. Fifteen days notice is required re-quired before beginning eviction proceedings. Generally, ths same notice period of 15 days has been observed in increasing rents." Those tenants now holding leases should study the terms in the light of the local law to determine de-termine whether they may be evicted or have the rental increased. in-creased. Mr. Reese emphasized that all notices, whether of rent increase or eviction should be in writing and served as provided by the Utah statutes. When and if the provisions of the former OPA price control act are renewed, notices of rent increases in-creases and notices of evitions given after June 30, 1946, and pending at the time of rent control's con-trol's reinstatement, will again be subject to OPA rent regulations. |
