Show Highland News t H. E. Greenland, Reporter Mrs. Maggie Beck underwent an operation for goiter at the L. D- S. hospital last week and is reported getting along as well as expected. The Beautlfication Banquet Friday Fri-day evening was a big success. Eighty Eigh-ty people were served after which they enjoyed a short program consisting con-sisting of three solos "The Holy City, "Bless This House," and "Deep River" by the son of Oscar W. Kirkham; comedy singing "Mr. GaUager and Mr. Shean," and "Show Me the Way to go Home," by H. E. Greenland and Bill Hyde; two vocal solos "The Old Refrain," and "Caroline" by Mrs. Bennett of Pleasant Grove, and a vocal solo "Grandmother's Old-fashioned Garden" Gar-den" little Miss Barbara Greenland. Green-land. Special guests were Mr. Oscar Os-car W. Kirkham and son of Salt Lake City who brought with them natural color slides of Church beau-tification beau-tification work which were shown after the program. The banquet was in charge of the Old Folks Committee and the evening's entertainment en-tertainment under the direction of Mr. Welcome Chapman. Welcome Chapman, Bishop Harry Jerling, Davis H. Adamson and H. E. Greenland motored to Orem Tuesday on business-Mr. business-Mr. H. M. Larsen and daughter Thelma spent Tuesday in Provo attending a session of Leadership Week. The Rook Club pleasantly surprised sur-prised one of its members Mrs. Deane White Saturday evening at her home in American Fork, the occasion being her birthday. The evening was spent playing progressive pro-gressive Rook with Mrs. Rosamond Maxfield winning high score and Mrs. Velma Jerling consolation prize. A delicious lunch was served to thirteen. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Day spent Monday in Provo combining business busi-ness with pleasure. A fireside chat for the Gleaner Girls and M. Men was held Sunday evening after sacrament meeting at the home of Bishop and Mrs- Harry Jerling. President Young was en gaged as speaker but was unable to attend n |
