Funeral To Be Saturday For Accident Victim Eugene Ferguson, 19, son ol Mr. and Mrs. Elvernon Ferguson, was drowned about 6:30 Monday evening, the second victim of Utah lake waters this summer. His body was recovered Tuesday at 1:30 near the spot where he fell from a "boat near the Provo boat harbor. According to Deputy Sheriff Roscoe Kay, Provo, Mr. Ferguson, Fergu-son, was boating with Eugene Healey, 20, Alpine, and Allen Makin, 20, American Fork, when he and Makin attempted to change positions in the boat. A sudden turn threw them both out. Ferguson, who could not swim, was kept afloat by Makin until Healey turned the boat around and came back to them. Makin then turned Ferguson over to Healey but the victim slipped from his grasp and sank immediately. im-mediately. The two men dived several times into the lake but were unable to locate the drowning drown-ing man. Born in Provo Aug. 4, 1927, the son of Elvernon and Eloise Coult Ferguson, he lived in Mill Creek, Salt Lake county, until 1941 when the family moved to American Fork. Since that time he has rosicled in American. Fori- canyon can-yon where his father is an employee em-ployee of the Utah Power and Light company. He was graduated from the American Fork high school in 1945 and was president of the senior class. At the time of his death he was employed 'by the Wasatch Southern Oil Co., Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove. Surviving are his parents, two brothers, Elvernon Ferguson Jr., East Mill Creek, and Don Wesley Ferguson, American Fork; a sister Mrs. LaMont (Althea) Richins, Salt Lake City, and three grandparents, Mr. and Mrs, W. W. Ferguson, Provo, and Mrs, Amy Coult, Salt Lake City. At the time of the accident his parents were vacationing in Yellowstone Park and did not reach home until Thursday morning. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 o'clock noon Saturday in the Third ward chapel with Bishop LeGrande Adamson of the Highland ward in charge. Friends may call at the Ferguson Fergu-son home Friday evening and Saturday morning prior to services. |
