Show Pleasant Grove Locals Mr. and Mrs. Irwin Jensen returned re-turned Saturday night from Spring-dale, Spring-dale, in southern Utah, where they attended the funeral of Mr. Jensen's father, Christian K. Jensen, 78, who j died at his home there Wednesday, after a week's serious illness. The elder Mr. Jensen was born and raised rais-ed in Manti, helped to pioneer Castle Valley in Emery county; and later moved to Springdale where he had lived the past five years. The Misses Lecta Linebaugh, Mary Mills, and Myrtle Listen of Orem, spent last week-end in Logan where they attended the Harvest Ban of the U. S. A. C. Mr. and Mrs. Harold M. Wright entertained at an informal fireside luncheon Saturday night. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Monson of American Fork and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Cook of Lehi. Following the luncheon games were played. Mr. and Mrs. M. S. Christiansen had as their guests Sunday afternoon, after-noon, Louis J. Singleton of Los Angeles and his mother-in-law, Mrs. A. F. Gaisford of Lehi. Mr. Singleton, Single-ton, who is a brother of Mrs. Christiansen's, Chris-tiansen's, was on his way to Los Angeles after attending a convention conven-tion of dealers in electrical appliances appli-ances in Cleveland, Ohio. Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Fugal had the pleasure last week of attending the performance of the U. S. A. C. competitive com-petitive play "The Women Have Their Way" in which their son John had one of the prominent parts, a colorful character role, that of a Spanish rejected lover, Pepe Lora. Mr. E. A. Beck who has been spending most of his evenings at the bedside of his father, I. A. Beck who has been seriously ill the past two weeks at his home in Spanish Fork, reports that his father's condition con-dition is slightly improved. Joseph Day, stake superintendent of the M. I. A. and his wife, Aneta Day, dance director of the stake were speakers at the assembly program pro-gram presented in the Windsor ward M. I. A. Tuesday evening. Mr. Day discussed M. I. A. problems and Mrs. Day chose "Happiness" as her theme. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Bunnell celebrated celebrat-ed their thirty-fifth wedding anniversary anni-versary with a family dinner party on Sunday. The affair was also in honqr of Mrs. Bunnell's birthday. A large bowl of pink and white rosebuds rose-buds formed the centerpiece for the dining table at which the following guests were seated: Mr. and Mrs. Richard Vanata and daughters of Salt Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Ferry Bunnell Bun-nell of Park City, Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Walker and family, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Bunnell and children, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wootton, Bert, Bill and Elva Bunnell. Everett West, the five-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Sherwood West is in a Salt Lake hospital taking treatment treat-ment for the blood disease with which he has been afflicted for several years. Mrs. Lydia Lund spent Monday and Tuesday with Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Kirk and family. Teachers of the Central school enjoyed their annual Christmas party and celebrated at the same time the birthday anniversaries of two of their number, Mrs. Leone Told and Mr. Eleroy Murdock, at the home of Principal Ray Merrill, Thursday evening. A "pot-luck" J luncheon was served and games played. During the evening "secret pal" gifts were distributed. Mrs. George Fage and daughters, Joyce and Betty, will spend Saturday Satur-day in Salt Lake City visiting with, Ruth Fage, who is employed as a nurse at the L. D. S. hospital. Mrs. Victor Stokes returned Tuesday Tues-day morning from Ely, Nevada, where she went on Thursday of last week, to be with her father when he underwent an operation at a hospital hos-pital there. Mrs. Minnie Anderson was made very happy on her eightieth birthday, birth-day, Tuesday, by the thoughtfulness of friends and relatives who called to extend best wishes. A group of associates with whom she had worked in the Relief society (Mrs. Margaret Holdaway, Mrs. Laura Lim Mrs. Anna Johnson, Mrs. Hedve Christiansen, JMrs. Josephine Monson Mon-son and Mrs. Margaret Shoell) called call-ed at her home in the afternoon and presented her with flowers as a token of their love and respect. They found that her daughters, Mrs. Annie VanCott of Salt Lake, Mrs. Myrtle Johnson of Sandy, and Mrs. Emily Pederson and family, as well j the son of Mrs. Van Cott and the I family of G. A. Anderson of Ameri- I can Fork, were, having a family i birthday party there. Mrs. Van Cott who for the past ten years has been writing a volume of biographies of her father and mother, read interesting inter-esting excerpts from the book which has just been published. The new genealogical committee of Manila ward honored the newly released members, chairman Jorm D. Roundy and Mrs. Jessie Wadlev, class leader, with a social held Friday Fri-day night at the home of Verda Radmall. The guests of honor were each presented with a book as a token of appreciation of their services. serv-ices. Mrs. Wadley received a lovely scrapbook and Mrs. Roundy, a volume vol-ume of the "Articles of Faith". Games and refreshments furnished the entertainment. Special guests were President and Mrs. W. W. Warnick and Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Adams and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hilton, members of the old stake committee. Hosts were Mr. and Mrs. George Monson, Mr. and Mrs. Vergil Meredith, Miss Verda Radmall Rad-mall and Mrs. Sena Radmall. Mrs. J. P. Fugal, Mr. Fred Scholes, Mr. J. M. Macfarlane and Mr. Le Grand Jarman attended the Utah county Horticultural convention held at Provo on Monday. |
