Show PL Grove Enters 1 TOKleanesT . Qy ' Contest i ! Pleasant Grove officially entered I the "Utah's Cleanest Town" contest con-test this week. Jean Carlos, manager man-ager of the Beautification Division of the Centennial Commission gave his final approval on Monday and stated, "It is now up to the people of Pleasant, Grove to plan, clean-up arid beautify if they want to win this coveted title." s The contest is open to ail cities and towns in Utah that agree to meet certain requirements. "The winner will be selected at the end of 1947 and will be given wide publicity pub-licity as "Utah's Cleanest City.',' A large loving, cup will be present ed to the winner by the National Clean-up Bureau at Washington D. C. Shipley D. Burton, a forme Utahn is the managing director of this bureau. He was guest speaker at a Jaycee program here last July. At that time Mr. Burton spoke highly of Pleasant Grove and its scenic background. The Pleasant Grove Beautification Beautificat-ion Committee has started its '47 activities and hopes to .obtain the help and cooperation of everybody The main point in the judging is the amount of improvement shown between now and June 1st The committee suggests that work should be started at once to: 1. Haul away the winters accumulation accum-ulation of cans, trash, etc. Regular S weekly garbage service is now a-vailable a-vailable at a nominal cost. 2. Prune trees, shrubs and cut willows. 3. Plan a large and varied flow-' flow-' er garden. L . 4. Fertilize your, lawn and gar-'den gar-'den plot. ' 5.
