Show The American Legion Auxiliary Conducts Essav Contest in School Dining the month of March the American Legion Auxiliary sponsored spon-sored an American Essay contest through our local Junior and Senior High School. Through the united efforts of J'i'inripal Karl Banks, Miss Estello Kenton, Mr, Reese, and Mr. Wool-sJon, Wool-sJon, the contest proved to be a real success. There were many very fine c; lays written and from them were cln, sen four as final winners, 'i'hr.v were: First prize going to Senior High , Miss Carol Walker, daughter of Mr. and Mis. II. S. Walker. Second prize Senior High, Grant Anderson, son of Dr. and Mrs. G. V. Anderson. Anderson. First prize Junior High going to Miss Ginger Nielson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Nielson, Lindon. Second prize Miss Betty Page, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Page. The prizes given were $10, first prize, $5, second prize. The auxiliary wishes ilo thank the American Legion in helping with the cash awards, and to the school Principal and teachers for their efforts. Monday night the students presented pres-ented their Essays at our American Legion Auxiliary meeting and were awarded it heir prizes there. Miss Gwon Lee from our local TTiirh School played a violin solo, accompanied by Miss Betity Page. The meeting was in charge of M.rs Milton Adamson, President of the Auxiliary. Following the meeting Monday evening a dance was enjoyed, after which refreshments were served. |
