Show Pleasant Grove Wins Second Game At Basketball Tourney The Pleasant Grove Vikings won the first leg on the Consolation championship in the second round game Thursday against Salina. They came up with the long end of a 51-40 score. Wednesday's game, lost by a one point margin, 41-40, tossed them into the consolation bracket, but went clown into tournament records as the best on the first day's card. The Grovers jumped into a lead on early baskets by Tom Adamson and Bob Hilton, but: Snow came back to tie the count at six and went on to got a 14-8 lead at quarteiVtime. The Vikings were missing their shots badly during the late minutes of the first period but they came back early in the second to tie the score at 14 when the canto was three minutes old. Ray Louder and the speedy Reed Benson led the scoring spree which gave the Vikings the 25-19 halftlme margin. The last half was a dogfight from the first whistle. Snow tied the score at 27 and it was knotted at 29, 31, 33, 35, and 37. With three minutes remaining in the game, Grant Fugal evened the score at 37 for the Pee Gee team, Ibut Allred and Homer- tanked ,goals for Snow in t-he final minutes while all the Vlklings could muster was a goal and a free throw. Both clubs got 17 field goals in the game. |
