Show Union Pacific Again Wins Safety Medal Omaha, Neb., May 5 Veteran railroad men nodded their heads today, clucked their tongues and said, "Well the U. P. has done it again. Bill Jeffers and his gang really must have the Indian sign on accidents." What they mean is that the Union Pacific railroad, for the seventh consecutive time and for the fifteenth year in the last twenty, had a lower accident frequency rate in 1942 among its employes than any of the na-' na-' tion's 32 largest Class 1 railroads. William M. Jeffers, rubber director, di-rector, is president of the Union Pacific and the railroad's most i ardent safety enthusiast. Announcement An-nouncement of the U.
