Show Funeral Services Held for Mrs. Slater Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p. m. for Mrs. Matilda M. Slater, 50, wife of Theodore L. Slater of this city, who died at 1:30 p. m. Thursday, Thurs-day, November 28th, after an illness of less than a week of pneumonia. The services were held in the Anderson An-derson Mortuary and were well attended, at-tended, and there were a number of 'lovely floral offerings. Counselor Samuel F. Grant of the First ward bishopric was in charge. The opening musical number -was a vocal duet, "Unanswered Yet" sung by Moral D. Steele and Mrs. Ora Chipman, and the opening prayer was offered toy Moral D. Steele. A violin solo, "Lay My Head Beneath a Rose" was played by Miss Merma Grant. Bishop T. A. Greenwood and S. F. Grant were the speakers, and each offered fitting words of consolation con-solation to the bereaved. Other musical numbers were a vocal vo-cal solo, "Face to Face" by Rulon Nicholes, and the closing selection, "Jesus My Savior" rendered by a ' double ladies duet consisting of Mesdames Mes-dames Rhoda Nilsson, Eleanor Grant Merle McGrew and Luella Greenwood, Green-wood, accompanied on the violin by Miss Merma Grant. James T. Lar-rabee Lar-rabee pronounced the benediction. Interment was made in the City j cemetery where the grave was dedicated dedi-cated by A. F. Smith. Matilda Margaurite Slater was born in Farmington, Yosemite Valley, California, Cal-ifornia, October 26, 1884. She married mar-ried Frank Hatman and later married mar-ried George Ryerson and lived in Canada for ten years. She came to American Fork four years ago, her husband having died, and joined her only daughter here. While employed for a short time in Nevada later sire ! met Mr. Slater and their marriage i took place in this city on December 25, 1S32, and they have since resided here. Although .not generally well known j here, Mrs. Slater endeared herself to those with whom she became ac- ( quainted by her untiring service to others even at tile sacrifice of her own health many times. She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Marvin J. Smith, tlnee granddaughters, of this city; her father and a brother of Stockton, Stock-ton, California. j |
