Russon and family and Mis Ida Harrington, of this cit;y. Miss Roma Strong of Alpine, visited visit-ed from Thursday until Sund-ay at the home cf Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Smith. Mrs. Mary Olsen visited at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie A. Smith, from Monday evening until Wednesday. Wednes-day. Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Halliday and family were dinner guests on New Year's day of Mr. and Mrs. Junius West of Pleasant Gjove . Mr. and Mrs. Leslie A. Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Warren B. Smith attended at-tended fast meeting at Alpine Sunday Sun-day with Mrs. Hattie Strong. The attraction was the blessing of Mrs. Strong's new baby son. After meeting meet-ing they visited the rest of the dayi at the Strong home. Mr. and Mrs. Leo G. Meredith were among the gussts at a New Year's breakfast party given by Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Taylor at their home in Provo. On Wednesday evening they were among the guests at a dinner party for the Nautilus Alumni Alum-ni members and their partners given by Miss Florence Maw of Provo with Mrs. Lynn Taylor assisting, i I Mrs. A. L. Davis of Salt Lak.' was the guest here for New Year's of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Buckwalter. Mrs. Davis and daughter, Miss Faye Tanner, who had spent the holiday-week holiday-week here with friends, were joined in the evening by Mr. Davis and sons who had been in Heber for the day and they all returned to Salt Lake in the evening. In the account of last week of those who assisted in making the Christmas morning pageant the splendid success it was, the name of Glen Wright as assistant in staging was omitted, and the name of Boyd Philips should have appeared as one of the assistants of the committee on lighting effects. His brother, James, was named instead. We regret re-gret the error as both of these young men were such willing workers. Mrs. James S. Chadwick entertained entertain-ed on New Year's in honor of Dr. James S. Chadwick and his father, Wm. Chadwick, the occasion being their birthdays. Dinner was served to twenty guests. ' New Year's wishes were made before extinguishing the lighted candles on the birthday cake. Many birthday gifts were received by both guests of honor. Games were Am. A party greatly enjoyed by all attending at-tending was that given last Saturday Satur-day night after the dance at the home of Mr. and Mrs. David S. Taylor. Tay-lor. Bridge was played at four tables, following which the hostess served a tasty lunch. The guests were Messrs. and Mesdames James Chadwick, Mark Coddington, Vern F. Houston, Stanford Briggs, Leo G. Complimentary to Miss Helen Bird and Lennis Abel, whose mar-mlage mar-mlage took place Wednesday, Miss Naomi Halliday entertained a few of their close friends at a waffle eupper at her home last Friday night. The guests enjoyed playing Monte Carlo Whist the forepart of the evening, Mr. Abel capturing the prize. Mr. and Mrs. George Jacklln had as their guests for dinner on New I Year's day, Mr. and Mrs. John Jack-1 Jack-1 lin. i 1 Master Boyd Coddington returned home Sunday after spending a week in Salt Lake with his mother, Mrs. Verla Coddington. Le Roy Mecham motored in from Hiawatha last Saturday and remained re-mained until Monday afternoon visiting vis-iting friends and relatives. Mrs. Mecham and son returned to Hiawatha Hia-watha after a week's visit in Manilla with relatives. A party of local people motored to Salt Lake Sunday evening and remained to see the old year out and the new year in. In the party were Messrs. K. J. Bird, J. F. Walton, Wal-ton, C. T. Jones, A. F. Gaisford Jr., iGlen Taylor, and L. B. Adamson. The annual holiday party given by the ladies of the Lawata club with their husbands as special guests was held last Friday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Ingersoll. The holiday decorations in the home were centered around a beautifully beau-tifully decorated tree bearing a gift for each one present. Bridge was enjoyed, the high score prizes being won by Mrs. David S. Taylor and Dr. V. F. Houston. Late in the evening eve-ning a delicious lunch was served. Christensen in Salt Lake. ,Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Grant and daughter, Gladys, and Miss Lillie Shatter were dinner guests on New Year's day of Mr. and Mrs. Rulor. Taylor in Lehi. Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Stewart were among the guests at a New Year's party given in Salt Lake by Mr. and Mrs. Duane Stewart. Mr. and Mrs. John Nelson an family spent Sunday here with .Mr. Nelson's father, Niels Nelson and family. Mr. and Mrs.S. W. Chipman and their daughter, Miss Merle Chip man, of Salt Lake, returned Thursday Thurs-day from a trip to Logan where they enjoyed the Christmas holidays holi-days with Dr. and Mrs. C. C. Randall. Ran-dall. Miss Chipman returned to Salt Lake Monday evening to resume re-sume network as head of the U. of U. Cafeteria. The club of the "once was" ("Has beens") has been changed to the "Merry Makers" due to the fact that the president insists that she is not a ("has been"). She was absent from the meeting when the name was chosen. (The members say they hope she is "Merry" now with the name of "Merry Makers"). This business took place at the home of Mrs. Nellie Bassett's at a regular club meeting. They also spent part of the time in quilting.' President Ann L. Chipman was hostess, Mrs. James H. Clarke was a special guest. A light luncheon was served. The next club meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Thomas Barratt's on January 17th. An enjoyable time was had by the members of the Variety Club and their partners at the holiday party held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Moss Friday night last. The living and dining rooms were gay with decorations of holiday colors and motifs and a lighted tr;e. Gifts were exchanged by the guests. Progressive Pro-gressive games were played followed by a delicious lunch. The prizes were won by Mrs. Wilson Cunningham Cunning-ham and Clarence A. Grant. The party was attended by Messrs. and Mesdames Alan Pierson, Melvih Grant, Kenneth Brown, Wilson Cunningham, Cun-ningham, Rulon Nicholes, Ray Shelley, Shel-ley, Clarence Grant, George Moss, Mrs. Mate Earl and Miss Lillie Shatter, Shat-ter, also Mr. and. Miss Bird was presented with a gift in appreciation of her work in the M. i I. A. Last Saturday night Mr. and Mrs. A, F. Gaisford entertained twenty guests at their home. A variety of j games were enjoyed during the evening eve-ning following which a buffet supper sup-per was served. The marriage this week of Miss Helen Bird was the motif for a delightful de-lightful party given last Friday afternoon af-ternoon by the girls of the Les Ceci-liennes, Ceci-liennes, social unit of the B. Y. U., and which was held at the home of Miss Betha Storrs here. The guests played Progressive Rook during the afternoon following which lunch was served buffet style. The dining table was covered with a lace banquet ban-quet cloth, and was centered with polnsettas with red tapers on each end of the tables. During the afternoon af-ternoon the honor guest was presented pre-sented with a handsome silver cream and sugar set engraved with the unit name.
