Show Joins Central Utah Basketball League Basketball h-as always had support sup-port among lovers of sport in Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove. The high school from time to time has sent championship teams to the state tournament, but after the boys leave school they are left out of the sport limelight unless they go to college and win places in college athletics. . Pleasant Grove now has a number of basketball stars in this position who have formed form-ed themselves into a town team and will join the Utah County Central league. This league comprises five teams from the B. Y. U, as follows, two freshmen teams, one faculty team, one Junior team and one mixed team Powers Shoe team of Lehi, Provo Van's of Provo, and the Pleasant Grove Old Stars. Two games of the league have already been played. The Provo Van's defeated the local team at Provo and the local team defeated the Provo team here. Beginning with next week the local lo-cal team will play every Monday and Thursday until Washington's birthday birth-day to complete the games of the Central Utah County league. The men who will participate in the local team are: Fred Richards, Thornton Birk, Richard Newman, .Vance West, George Gourley, Lee land Verl Christensen, Shelby West, Bernard Walker, Ralph Smith and Merlyn Wadley. A P. Warnick will assist in coaching the locals. ' i |
