Show First and Third Ward Hallowe'en Parties Big Successes Both the Hallowe'en Costume carnivals staged by the First and Third wards on Monday and Tuesday nights respectively were big successes suc-cesses and well attended. The First Ward's held in the tabernacle tab-ernacle basement hall under the auspices of the Sunday School drew one of the largest crowds to the hall seen there this season. The typical color scheme of orange and black was used to create an appropriate setting. Most of the dancers were in costume, and those who were, staged a grand march near the conclusion of the party, to give the judges ample am-ple opportunity to select the best dressed. Miss Rosamund Hansen as J a Russian dancer won first prize for the ladies and Gus Shroeder first honors for the men. A fortune telling tent, refreshment refresh-ment booths where candy, punch and doughnuts and other delicious eatables eat-ables could be obtained, added their share to the success of the carnival The Third Ward's costume ball was held in the New Gym. Hallo- we'en symbols and effects were used effectively in decorating the hall. Gay refreshment booths also added much for the merriment and general good time of all the revelers. First prize for the best costumed was won by Miss Fern Hunter with Miss Etta Abel, second- Eugene Briggs was declared the best look, ing man present and won a prize favor. This function was under the direction direc-tion of the ward M. I. A. Both affairs were included on the wards year round activity schedule, and those with activity cards were admitted free. 1 .V |
