Show Alpine News Mrs. Leonard Bates, Reporter The holiday festivities of our little town were saddened by the death of Mrs. Conrad Peterson, which occurred occur-red early Friday morning at a Salt Lake hospital. Mrs. Peterson had been very ill for several days but was considered well on the way to recovery re-covery when her death occurred. Funeral services were held in the ward chapel Sunday afternoon at 1:30 p. m. under the direction of Counselor Earl M. Devey. The opening open-ing song "Nearer My God to Thee" sung by a male quartet composed of Warren Clark, Leland Beck, . Waldo Bateman and Fred Strong. The invocation in-vocation was offered by Counselor Mrs. Madelene Wilkin is visiting with her sister, Mrs. Florence B. Smith at Salt Lake this week. A fine baby son arrived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Street Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Street and the new arrival are doing nicely. Miss Nell Hunter, who is attending attend-ing school at Bingham, spent the holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hunter. John A. Whitby. A duet "Whispering "Whisper-ing Hope" was rendered by Mrs. Er-ma Er-ma Bateman and Mrs. Cleone Cleg-horn. Cleg-horn. A biographical sketch was re-ad by Mrs. Ida Cameron. Consoling Consol-ing remarks were made by Bishop E. W. Burgess and Elder J. W. Vance, following which a musical selection was rendered by Elder Oscar A. Rolf. Other speakers were Elders James C. Healey and R. P. Carlisle. The closing clos-ing song "Lead Me Gently Home Father" was sung by a mixed quartet Mrs. Erma Bateman, Mrs. Cleone Cleghorn, Leland Beck and Waldo Bateman. The benediction was offered of-fered by Elder Monson, a relative of Mrs. Peterson. The grave in the Alpine cemetery was dedicated by Elder Joseph F. Marsh. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Terry entertained enter-tained at a family dinner New Year's day in honor of Mi's. Terry's birthday. birth-day. Covers were laid for Mr. and Mrs. Roy Harris and family of Lin-dan, Lin-dan, Mr. and Mrs. Vesper Diamond cf Springville, and Mr. and Mrs. Adin Brown and children, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Devey and baby, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Devey and children, and Mrs. Pheobe Wilson and children of Alpine, besides the host and hostess hos-tess and family. Kenneth McDaniel, who is employed em-ployed at Washington, D. C, is visiting visit-ing for a few weeks with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest McDaniel. Ray Marsh, who is employed at Hollywood, California, is spending the holidays with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph F. Marsh. |
