Show Irrigation Company Decides It to Purchase Water Stockholders of the American Fork Irrigation Company met in the City Hall Monday afternoon last, as per adjournment from the week before, to decide whether or not the company subscribe for water from the Deer Creek project. A large number were present at the meeting and considerable con-siderable interest manifest. Thomas J. Barratt acted as chairman and Leo T. Shelley as secretary. It was decided by motion that all motions held over from the last meeting meet-ing be laid on the table to clear the way for new motions to be made. George F. Shelley thereupon presented pre-sented the following resolution: Be is Resolved by the stockholders of the American Fork Irrigation Company, that it be the sense of the meeting, 1st. That the American Fork Irrigation Irri-gation Company retain its identity unchanged for the transaction of the business of the corporation. 2nd. That each water user desiring desir-ing to participate in the Government Deer Creek project subscribe for the number of acre feet that he may individually in-dividually desire, and provided a sufficient number are desirous of participating par-ticipating in the project to justify the undertaking, that they form a separate separ-ate association from the American Fork Irrigation Company to deal with the Government. 3rd. That if such association is formed, that it furnish pledges and security to the Government without interfering with the rights of stockholders stock-holders who do not care to participate in the project. Be it further resolved that provided provid-ed such a water users' association is formed that friendly relationship be established with it with a view of improving late water conditions in the community. Mr. Shelley explained the resolution resolu-tion and stated that the object was to bring harmony among the members of the company, as it met all objections objec-tions raised by the opposition at the former meeting and paved the way for friendly relationship with those who might desire water from the project. Objection was raised to the resolution resolu-tion that it might in some unexplain-able unexplain-able manner implicate the company with the Deer Creek project, and on motion a majority decided to lay it on the table. Robert L. Ashby then moved that the American Fork Irrigation Company Comp-any as a company do not subscribe for water in the Deer Creek project with a suggestion to those desiring water that they organize a separate company. Lafe Parker made an amendment that the American Fork Irrigation Company do not subscribe for any water from the Deer Creek project. The amendment carried by a large majority. A motion was then made and carried car-ried that the Irrigation Board be instructed in-structed to take steps for the digging of additional wells to augment the present late water supply. Nate Robinson protested against more wells being dug by the Company threatening that in case such a thing was attempted he along with other lower land owners would bring injunction in-junction suits against the company. George F. Shelley announced that a meeting of those who might desire to participate in the Deer Creek project pro-ject would be held immediately at the close of the meeting, after which the meeting adjourned. |
