Show Delegates Return From U.S.A.C. Short Course Delegates from Utah county, wh were attending the adult leader; training school at the Utxh Stat Agricultural college, returned Fri day after an eleven-day program They are: Pearl Eigler, Payson; J G. Waik er, Provo- Representatives from this countj expressed themselves as highl) pleased with the course of study, the special lectures and the high tyie of entertainment furnished them while at the State college as charges of the Extension Service. Very few dull moments wore allowed to creep into the period during which the conference was in ses-fion. ses-fion. Activities of an educational or recreational nature were arranged ar-ranged by members of the Extension Exten-sion Service from 8 a- m. to 10:30 p. m. or later each day with the exception ex-ception of a few "open" dates when the delegates found their own pas times. While the central theme of the con. l'erence was the economic develop ir.r.nt and use of irrigation, culm ary, and livestock water, manj more topics of general and timely interest were introduced- They included: in-cluded: Planning programs for county, state and national agriculture; agricul-ture; problems of rural youth, agricultural agri-cultural credit, rural rehabilitation and resettlement, rural health problems, prob-lems, living better on present incomes, in-comes, the social security act and its provisions and benefits; dairying, dairy-ing, household management, nutrition nutri-tion and clothing. National, regional, state, and college col-lege officials appeared on special lecture programs. Speakers included: in-cluded: Governor Henry H. Blood, President E. G. Peterson and Di- rector William Peterson of the college; col-lege; President F- P. Champ of the board of trustees; ' T. H. Humph-crys, Humph-crys, state engineer; Eugene Mcr-ritt Mcr-ritt and W. A. Lloyd of the Extension Exten-sion Service, United States department depart-ment of agriculture, Washington, D. C; and a number of college professors pro-fessors and staff members- "The Extension Service staff is proud to have been associated with such a splendid group of farm men r.nd women," Director Peterson said in commenting on the conference. "We feel that many worthwhile things came out of the clais work, tlhe lectures, the discussions and, perhaps above all, the associations developed. "We look forward to the time when these delegates will return to their respective counties and impart much of the knowledge they have gained here, to their fellow work-s." |
