Show City Officials Inspect New Highway Approaches The attention of the council was drawn to the need of seeing that the approaches on either end of town were properly repaired after the construction work' of the road changes has been completed, and with this in view the council decided last Saturday night in regular session ses-sion to get in a body and make an investigation, that the state road officials an contractors see to it that the road is in such shape as to amply protect traffic. The condition of the culvert on the corner of Main and Third East streets was referred to the street supervisor to consult with the contractor con-tractor to have the culvert placed in such condition as to no longer menace traffic. Report was made that the cement walls of the bridge near the Sam Dean Jr. residence has been completed com-pleted and the attitude of the council coun-cil was asked with respect to the completion of the bridge The council coun-cil as a whole decided to investigate and take action. It was reported that the Red Cross officers, the American Legion and Service Star Legion officials had arranged a tentative program for the observance of Armistice Day, and had contemplated' the inauguration inaugura-tion of the 1933 Red Cross drive at the same time. The council endorsed en-dorsed the plan and assured the co-operation of its members. A communication was received from Lyman H. Rich, manager of the Utah County Fair, expressing the appreciation of the fair committee com-mittee for the exhibit furnished by the city and the co-operation extended ex-tended in making the fair a success. suc-cess. Attention was called by the New Century Printing Co. of Provo to the change in state law relative to two or more candidates for the same city office, such as two-year councilman, coun-cilman, wherein the names of such candidates must foe alphabetically arranged and the ballots were being arranged according to this new law. The city recorder reported that the judges of election as appointed at the last meeting had all responded respond-ed favorably with the exception of John Wright in the First District, who was not certain he would be in town. T. A. Greenwood was then appointed judge by the council. The matter of arranging the election elec-tion booths, ballot boxes, etc. in the districts of the precinct was referred refer-red to the street supervisor for action. ac-tion. The reports of the various city officers for the month of October i were read and accompanying bills were allowed, together with some additional bills. A number of other cases where delinquency on cemetery lots exists and where the owners have died or moved away were reported. The sexton was authorized to sell the unused portions of the following lots: Charles G. Wright, William Kelly, Mary Tillock, Josiah Joff, Wm. Wilcox, Arthur M. Peterson, Samuel Mulliner, Clark Prossman, Hyrum Edwards, Franklin Herbert, Mary Boley Cooper, Edward G. Ter-rioney, Ter-rioney, C. C. Bone, Isaac Cooper, and Wm. Warren. o |
