Offers Correspondence Courses In Utah Climaxing more than a year of research and preparation the correspondence corre-spondence division of the W P A Adult Education Program issued this week the first three of a series of correspondence courses in useful fields, to be loaned free to residents of the state, announced Mack Nlcol-aysen, Nlcol-aysen, state director of edu.cation for the Works Progress Administration. Forestry, Radio, and Automobile Mechanics are the initial courses to come off the W P A press, and are sideration in the course of thirteen lessons. This course should be of practical value to all automobile owners. Other Courses in Preparation In process of compilation are several sev-eral other courses which should be of great value . to various interest groups. The one on Soil Conservation Conserva-tion is expected to be off the press within the next two weeks and applications ap-plications for registration will be accepted at any time. The Traffic Safety course has been written and is in process of final revision for publication. This course, said Mr. Peterson, should be of interest to every car owner. Basic English and Journalism are in course of preparation and others are being planned. The lessons will be sent free to Utah residents over 18 years of age. The only cost to the student is payment pay-ment of postage, said Mr. Peterson Any of the four courses Forestry, Radio, Auto Mechanics, Soil Conservation Con-servation may be obtained now by filling out the regular registration application which may be secured by writing to Mack Nicolaysen, state director of education, W P A, New-house New-house Building, Salt Lake City; or Charles F. Knowlton, state supervisor super-visor of the W P A correspondence department has been very successful success-ful in enlisting the cooperation and collaboration of specialists employed by other agencies in the technical preparation of the materials for the courses. Forestry This course is designed to help those wishing elementary preparation for forest service or special work and to give the general public a better appreciation of the forests and those who administer them. The text was written by officials offi-cials of the regional forest service at Ogden. Radio The radio course is an adaption of the course now used in Idaho. It deals with the theory of electricity as applied to radio construction con-struction and deals with the simpler types of receivers as well as construction con-struction data necessary for building! simpler sets. A more advanced course is also in process of preparation." Auto Mechanics This course with the basic principals of construction and operation of two-stroke and four-stroke cycle engines and their different parts.
