Show Pleasant Grove Locals Friends of Ray Young surprised him with a social Wednesday night. Mr. and Mrs. George Peay, Mrs. Keith Jacobs and Miss Fae Beal spent Wednesday visiting in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Beal of Ophir returned to their home Thursday after a visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Peay. Mr. and Mrs. J. Kemp are the proud grandparents of a girl, born to Mr. and Mrs. Clark Nelson of Lehi, Thursday. Mrs. Burton H. Adams spent Wednesday Wed-nesday in Salt Lake City, where she continued research work at the Genealogical library. Milton A. Thorne of Richfield called at the D. B. Thorne home Monday. Mrs. E. A. Fullmer and daughter Myrtle returned to Salt Lake City after spending a month at the home of Mrs. Carl Carlson. Perneal Shoell who was badly burned by a gasoline explosion, is able to get about now. Helen Carlson returned to her work in Salt Lake City after spending spend-ing Mother's day in Pleasant Grove. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Olpin attended attend-ed the Funeral Directors convention conven-tion at Salt Lake City Monday and Tuesday. The closing meeting of 'the Windsor Wind-sor ward Genealogical workers was held Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Minnie Dittmore. The regular reg-ular class work was taken up. Mrs. Arminta Hayes entertained the Mothers' club Thursday afternoon. after-noon. New officers elected by the club recently are Mrs. Nora Mac-farlane, Mac-farlane, president; Mrs. Ida West, vice president and Mrs. Lela Banks, secretary. D. B. Thorne was in Salt Lake City Monday, attending an administrative admin-istrative meeting for the milk program. Miss Helen Smith, formerly of Pleasant Grove, and Miss Norine Fox of Lehi have left on a trip to Honolulu, where they will spend part of the summer vacation. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Cragun have moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, to make their home. Mr. and Mrs. Frank D. Atwood attended the postmasters' convention conven-tion at the Newhouse Hotel in Salt Lake City this week. They met Postmaster General Jim Farley, who was a special guest at the convention. conven-tion. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Pack and daughters Janeen and Patricia, former residents of this city who have been in Los Angeles for the past two and one-half years, have returned to Pleasant Grove. They plan to make their home here. Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Richins have left for Independence, Missouri, for an extended visit, arriving there on Friday. In the midwest city, they will visit Mrs. Richins' parents. Miss Jean Beckett, her sister, will return to Pleasant Grove with them. Mr. and Mrs. Barney Hilton have gone to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, with the Howard Nelson orchestra. Paul Jacobs has returned to his home in San Francisco, after visiting visit-ing here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Jacobs, for two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Smith and small baby of Escalante are visiting with Mr. Smith's mother, Mrs. La-Rue La-Rue Smith, for the summer. Mrs. Fred Sholes entertained Wednesday afternoon in honor of the third birthday anniversary of her daughter, JoAnn. Games were played, and a dainty lunch was served serv-ed to the following guests: Joan Hardman, Geneal Crystal, Doris Crystal, Lyman Nielsen, Tommy Jense, Bobby Macfarlane, Newell Larsen, Kent Huntsman, Marilyn Huntsman, Carol Scholes and Vir- ginia Laughney, besides little Miss JoAnn. Dr. Wayne B. Hales' family of Provo were Sunday guests at the home of Dr. and Mrs. G. Y. Anderson Ander-son of this city. Dr. Hales is in Florida, where he presented a paper on a phase of photography at a national na-tional photographic convention. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Jackson of of Lehi are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Owen Halliday. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Beers and son Larry, the Clark twins, Elda and Alta, and Mr. Glen Noble left Sunday Sun-day for the Pacific Coast. They will visit the San Francisco fair, and then go to Los Angeles and other points of interest. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Smith and daughter Carol attended graduation exercises of the Spanish Fork Seminary Semi-nary Sunday evening. H. P. Jones, formerly of Pleasant Grove, was in charge of the exercises. Sunday guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Adams were Mrs. Russell and small son and Henry Stoddard of Provo, and Dessie Adams was home for the day. Mrs. Edmund R. Cragun entertained enter-tained at dinner Sunday evening in honor of the birthday anniversary of her daughter-in-law, Mrs. E. M. Cragun. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Cragun and children Dorlynn, Edmund Grant and Betty Jo, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar M. Cragun and children chil-dren Patsy, Connie and Rosa, Mr. and Mrs. W. Rumel Cragun and Elmer Price. Third ward Genealogical workers enjoyed a closing social Monday evening, at the home of Chairman Wilford W. Neves. Games were played and refreshments were served. serv-ed. A feature of the evening was a "guessing game", played with baby pictures of those attending. Each brought baby pictures of himself, and these were passed around for the others to "guess who". M. B. Nichols, western representative representa-tive of the national Holstein-Friesian association, of Portland; LeGrand Walker, of the State Industrial school at Ogden, and William Woodbury Wood-bury of Grander visited at the Merrill Mer-rill N. Warnick home Sunday. With Mr. Warnick they discussed plans for the state herd to be sent to the San Francisco fair. Graduation exercises for the Trail-builders Trail-builders of the Manila ward Primary association were held Sunday evening eve-ning in the ward chapel. With Mrs. Donna Stewart, class leader, in charge, Neil Jeppson, John Swen-son, Swen-son, Wallace Roundy and Larry Bame were graduated. Mrs. Lacey White of the stake Primary association asso-ciation board attended the exercises. |
