Show 93 Students Have Defective Sight Test Result Shows Of 1252 students in the schools of American Fork, 93 have defective eyesight, Mrs. Mabel Jones, district nurse, reported here this week. The students recently were given visual acuity tests by their instructors, instruc-tors, under supervision of Mrs. Jones, and results have been compiled for each school in the district. Approximately half the students needing correction have been fitted with glasses, Mrs. Jones reported. That there is a tendency to take care of defects as the children reach the higher grades is indicated by the fact that a larger portion of junior and senior high school students than Harrington students have corrections. correc-tions. Thirty of 587 Harrington students had defects, 12 with and 18 without correction. In the junior and senior high schools, where 665 were examined, exam-ined, 63 had defects, of which 35 had correction and 28 did not. Mrs. Jones said the second "shots" for diphtheria, immunization were given to 50 children last week. Twenty children who received the first one did not report for the final one, she said. As the immunization is ineffective without the second "shot," mothers should attend to it within the next month, Mrs. Jones said. o |
