Show Boy Scouts To Plant Trees At a meeting of the Timpanogos council of the boy scouts held Thursday Thurs-day evening at Provo, it was decided to have it a part of a scouts duty, to plant a hardwood tree. A plan is being be-ing fostered to encourage residents along each side of the road from Provo to Pleasant Grove to plant Mont Morancy cheery trees. The boy scouts are to assist in this work. The cherry trees are ornamental at blooming time and when they are loaded with bright red cherries they are pleasing to the eye. As a shrub, few trees compare with it. Tbre are some people of our community that have visited the won- j derful cherry trees at Washington L. C, that were presented to our government gov-ernment by the Japanese government. They bloom about Easter time. People Peo-ple come for miles to see them and comment on their beauty. It is indeed' in-deed' one of the beauty spots of Washington. Wash-ington. All nations are interested in visiting the spot when they are in bloom. The district between Pleasant Grove and Provo is particularly adopted for such a project as that in , Washington. On the east side of the j road sufficient waste water could be j secured to take care of them, and on j the west side of the road there are I water ditches most of. the way. The Commercial clubs, Chamber of Commerce Com-merce and other organizations will be asked to cooperate with the boy scouts and see what can be accomplished accom-plished during the month of April towards to-wards furthering this project. It is the hope of many that such a beauty , scene as in Washington may be created creat-ed in Utah county. |
