Butte were present at the governor's office last Friday, March 22, where they were among a group' ot fifteen firemen who witnessed ths' signing of the Firemen's pension bill passed by the recent legislature. Mr. j Fuitte is a member of the State Fire-' men's Legislative committee. This bill provides that in the event of tli e total disability of any fireman, 1 volunteer or paid, caused while on duty, he would receive compensation for the full period according to the1 compensation act, and when compen-J sation ceases, the fireman would re-! ceive a pension equal to one-half of his salary in his daily avocation. The pension is not to exceed $100 per month. In case of death while on' duty, his wife or children would re-1 ceive the compensation as above and that on the expiration of the compen-! sation, his widow would receive a; pension equal to one-half of what the fireman would have received plus $G per month for each child under 18. years of age. I One splendid feature of the bill is' that the money does not come from the taxes of the people, but is the ac-l cumulation of a fund provided by the! Fire Insurance companies of the Btate of Utah.
