Bennion, distinguished distin-guished Htah educator, now assistant assist-ant to Uie president of Uie Utah Power & Light Company, has accepted ac-cepted the appointment of chairman chair-man of Uie Utah State Roll Call ( Committee for Uie American Red Cross, A. L. Schafer, Red Cross manager in Uie Pacific area, informed in-formed Uie local Red Cross chapters today. Dr. Bennion and Mr. Schafer are the featured speakers" at Uie Utah State Roll Call Convention which will be held at Uie Hotel Utah. Salt Lake City, Thursday, September 30. Delegates from all Utah Red Cross chapters will rally to draft plans for the enrollment of at least 27,650 members from November 11th to 25Ui. Utah's present membership in the Red Cross is 16,162. Dr. Bennion served first as a high school teacher of English for four years in Salt Lake City, then prin- cipal of the Granite high school and later as assistant professor of English Eng-lish at the University of Utah. For nine years he was commissioner of Education for the Latter Day Saints church. During that period he gave courses in education in the University Uni-versity of Utah, Brighani Young university uni-versity and in Uie University of California. Cal-ifornia. Dr. Eennion has written a number num-ber of books, among which are "Fundamental Principles of Teaching," Teach-ing," "Problems of Youth," "Locking "Lock-ing in on Greatness." He holds membership hi a number of groups, among which are the L. D. S. church board of education and the Salt Lake Library board. As chairman of the Utah State Roll Call Committee he will give leadership in the coordination of the Roll Call endeavors of 36 Red Cross chapters in Utah. |
