Show City Favors Sales Tax The following resolution was presented pre-sented to the council and was unanimously un-animously adopted, being in keeping keep-ing with the decision of the legislature legis-lature committee of the Utah State Municipal League. RESOLUTION Whereas, there at present exists an urgent necessity for a large reduction reduct-ion in municipal costs, and, Whereas, there is an even greater necessity for alleviation of the unemployed un-employed situation in Utah, and, Whereas, these matters have reached reach-ed such magnitude that it becomes necessary for the officials of all municipalities to use every effort to assist in the proper adjustment of such affairs,, and, Whereas, the Utah Legislature Is now in session and in a position to consider legislation tending toward to-ward the correcting of these conditions, con-ditions, now therefore, Be it Resolved: Section 1. That the city council of American Fork, Utah, hereby endorses en-dorses the action of the Legislative Legislat-ive committee of the Utah Municipal Muni-cipal League, and requests that a law be provided by the present legislature. legis-lature. Section 2. That the Governor of the State of Utah be advised we would welcome an constructive ideas or investigations into the costs of our municipal affairs which may be deemed right and proper. Section 3. That we pledge ourselves to make a concientious effort to reduce re-duce our municipal expenditures excluding fixed charges, to 65 percent per-cent of the amount required in the year 1930. Section 4. That a copy of this resolution res-olution be sent to the Governor of the State of Utah, to the president of the Utah State Senate and the speaker of the Utah State House of Representatives. n |
