Show Ladies Club Program Given The regular once a month meeting meet-ing and social of the Ladies Literary Liter-ary Club was held Wednesday afternoon after-noon at the home of Mrs. Byron Crookston, with Mrs. William Thornton Thorn-ton assisting hostess. The affair was unusual in-as-much as it was called "Amateur afternoon", everyone every-one taking part, so that the program pro-gram was a very entertaining one. Each member present responded with a number as follows: Mrs. Jarvis Aydelotte, reading, "A Royal Garden"; Mrs. William Chipman, talk on Club accomplishments. She told that in the year past 120,663 trees had been planted by members of the federated women's clubs of Utah; Mrs. Byron Crokston, reading; read-ing; Mrs. John L. Firmage, solo, "Juanita"; Mrs. Abe Gudmundsen, humerous stories; Mesdames Fred Houston, J. F. Noyes and W. R. Halliday trio, "Annie Laurie"; Mrs. Joseph Nicholes, reading, original poem, about club members; Mrs. C. A. Pierson, two poems; Mrs. Walter Strange, original poem, "Memories"; Mrs. William Thornton, piano solo; Mrs. W. R. Halliday, solo, "Love's Old Sweet Song"; Mrs. Owen Lynch, guest, read an Italian dialect reading; read-ing; Miss Lois Lynch two solos. The annual election of officers for the ensuing year took place. The former officers were retained: Mrs. W. R. Halilday, president; Mrs. J. F. Noyes, vice-president; Mrs. Joseph Jos-eph Nicholes, secretary -treasurer; Mrs. Fred Houston, Choristor. A delicious lunch, suggestive of St. Patrick's day, was served. |
