Show U. S. Conducts Campaign to Preserve Wild Game project now is 90 per cent completed. complet-ed. The largest of the five preserves is the Wichita mountains wildlife refuge, comprising 61,430 acres devoted de-voted to the perpecuation of buffalo, elk, deer, Texas longhorn steers, as well as turkey, quail, prairie chickens, chick-ens, wild ducks and geese. Another federal big-game refuge is being established near Moiese, Mont. Known as the national bison range, it comprises 18,521 acres devoted de-voted primarily to bison, although it also offers sanctuary for elk, deer, mountain sheep, beaver, blue grouse and wild ducks. Safety Areas in Country Are Being Enlarged. Washington. The government is spending millions of dollars to protect pro-tect and propagate big game which pioneers of the West almost wiped out in the last century. Scores of big - game preserves have already been established and state and national laws have been passed for the protection of the relatively rela-tively small number of big game left. This campaign to prevent the extinction ex-tinction of big game from the United States was begun on a large scale only a few years ago.
