Show Maw Condemns Unequal Taxation Herbert B. Maw condemned the unequal distribution of the tax burden bur-den in Utah and gave this as one of the reasons for the inaBTlity of the local institution and individual to compete with the foreign institution institu-tion and concern who is able to side 6tep his portion of the governmental burden. He cited cases where men drawing the largest salaries in Weber county coun-ty were paying as little as $4.60 into the county treasury., He pointed out the wide variance between corporations assessed valuation valua-tion and the figure on which they based their value for fixing rates. The meeting was attended by some 300 citizens who were enthused with the senator's talk. He is being groomed as a candidate for the U. S. senate and is said to have the endorsement of the state Farm Bureau. The meeting here was under un-der the auspicies oT the Utah Poultry Poul-try association and Farm Bureau and was presided over by Frank Shelley. |
